100 Years of Yeo Park - Celebration & Mini-Exhibition Launch

On Sunday 1st June, 2025, the Yeo Park community in Sydney’s Inner West met together on Wangal and Gadigal country to celebrate 100 Years of Yeo Park and the launch of Picket Fence Illustrations Mini-Exhibition at Outfield Cafe.

It was a beautiful sunny day, and together we enjoyed live music from the Generate musicians, Ceffie and Zoe, good food generously provided by Outfield Cafe, and a day of family fun in the sun.

Local illustration artist, Sorrel Trevarthen, of Picket Fence Illustrations shared a speech acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land, and the significance of the aboriginal survival memorial located within Yeo Park.

The time to celebrate 100 Years of Yeo Park was also a time to reflect on “Bridging Now to Next” during National Reconciliation week.

The children in attendance were invited to draw their favourite part of Yeo Park during the speech. While the adults wrote down their memories of their time in the park. These drawings and reflections will form the basis of an artwork Sorrel will create for a similar exhibition in 2026.

Sorrel officially launched her “mini-exhibition” “Yeo Park Locals” which is now on at Outfield Cafe throughout June, 2025.

The mini-exhibition showcases 5 original illustration artworks of Yeo Park and local area.

Following the success of the day, Sorrel received a “Community Recognition Statement” from MP Jo Haylen on behalf of the NSW Parliament, for organising this community event.
