Putting Illustrations on the Map!

When Sorrel Trevarthen, a Sydney-based free-hand illustration artist from Picket Fence Illustrations, was invited to design a map for a commercial client, she was thrilled to take on the project!

Before becoming an illustrator, Sorrel studied Interior Design at UTS and spent many years working in corporate design. Her extensive experience managing design projects has equipped her to handle large-scale commissions.

Sorrel teamed up with Kylie Hannaford, Founder and Creative Director of Three Blocks Left Design, and her best friend of three decades! Together, they make an outstanding team.

For the map, Sorrel created the building illustrations and details by hand, which Kylie then incorporated into digitally designed streets and signage for wayfinding. Producing the map digitally made it possible to scale it for websites as well as large print formats.

Together, Sorrel and Kylie truly are a dream team in map-making!

Sorrel also creates hand-drawn maps in her signature style for wedding invitations. A unique and beautiful touch for your special event.
